Alternatively titled, Mini M&Ms and why Josh can't write this post.

There is something to be said about the power of a free doughnut. One free doughnut has the power that can unhinge even the strongly willed broke person from any and every diet you could possibly try.
Well, maybe that isn't quite true, but I consider myself a very strong-willed person (with everything aside from food) and I also consider myself an extremely broke person (I am the person that will throw all cares aside and ask the gas station worker to put 75 cents on station 2...with nickels and dimes only).
So how could I ever resist a delicious free doughnut?
Also, do you ever notice how the word "free" makes a doughnut taste just about one million times better? Perhaps I am exaggerating...perhaps I am just hungry.
Anyways, even with a wedding looming ahead, I didn't even think twice before I dove my hand into the pink Portland Voodoo Doughnuts box sitting in my office last year and plucked up the nearest heavenly circle of fat.
Then, from out of no where, I hear a cry. A mighty roar that would have woken the ancient gods all the way to Olympus.
Mmmm, I am definitely exaggerating now.
The outburst was from Josh, the way he does when he feels quite perplexed on a certain matter.
Before I could take a bite of what I now saw was a mini-m&m covered doughnut, Josh leapt to his feet from the chair he was sitting in and swiped the doughnut out of my hand.
"Not today, woman!" he said with gusto, "This, THIS is a mini-m&m doughnut."
I should have known.
As many would rightly question, Josh isn't a huge fan of doughnuts. He likes them, but they are never his go-to sweet.
I know. He is a strange bird, that one.
But, there are two things that Josh will always run to if they coat any food--or object really. And those are sprinkles and mini m&ms, with a high emphasis on the latter.
Josh grew up in a time (the early 2000s for you fogeys and dumbass teens) where mini-m&ms were plentiful. They practically littered the store shelves near the check out lines. However, Josh also grew up with a dumb mom who wouldn't buy him everything he demanded, so he didn't get to buy mini-m&ms very often.
Nowadays, when mini-m&ms are scarce, Josh must be given the items that are coated with them, to avenge his mother's negligence from the past, of course.
So, I let him have the doughnut, and watched him take slow, steady bites and devour the doughnut in his drawn-out time.
Being serious, one thing I admire about Josh is that he takes his time eating his food. He doesn't swallow before really enjoying the bite. I aspire to be more like that with my food, especially since we have started blogging about food now!
All in all, if Josh were to rate this food, he would give all 5s but only because of the coating of mini-m&ms so I will need to be the one who rates it. He allowed me one bite, so that is all I am going off of, but it should be good enough!
Rating: 3.75
Flavor/Texture: 3.5
The flavor of the doughnut itself is a bit bland. Very flaky (perhaps because they are from Portland and it took two hours to arrive). The m&ms create a strange texture complex with the flaky dough, better if they were melted a little. The frosting is amazing. I can't really place the flavor, but definitely light and almost vanilla-y.
Color/Display: 4.5
Lovely rainbow appearance, it also looks thick but the dough looks light and fresh.
Price: 5
Since our co-worker brought them they were free! Normally though, they are pretty expensive, but I am sticking with a five!
Food Service: N/A
No idea how they were today, usually they are very busy, but overall polite. The co-worker who brought them to us was a bit grumpy.
Atmosphere: N/A
Since this wasn't local we were in the dark and cramped office.
Rename of Food: Circle of Life ( Guess who came up with that one...haha)
